MODALS IN THE PAST FORM :)

MODAL is an auxillary which is used together with verb to ask permission, possibility or necessity.

THE FORMULA

S + MODAL  PAST + Verb 1

(MODAL PAST: would, should, might, could)

1. COULD : To offer suggestions or possibilities
2. MIGHT : To tell possibilities
3. WOULD : For an action that was repeated regularly in the past
4. SHOULD : To give definite advice (advisability)

EXAMPLE :

1. I didn't go to the party last night, but I could have gone.
2. I might go to the beach this weekend.
3. I would visit my grandparent in the village.
4. You should go to library now!
